
Why we stopped building “sealed” waterproof heaters
Most IP65 heaters are built like a vault. Everything is sealed tight to keep out the dust and rain, which sounds great until something actually breaks. Imagine it’s five years down the line and a heating element finally gives out. With a standard unit, you’re stuck tearing apart the whole housing or messing around with the control panel wiring. It’s a headache nobody wants. So, we decided to do things differently. We went with a modular setup. Swapping parts, not rebuilding machines Think of our infrared modules as “drop-in” replacements. Instead of soldering everything into the chassis, we use slide-in rails and standard connectors. If a tube dies, you just open the enclosure, unplug the module, and slide a new one in. It takes minutes. You aren’t spending your whole afternoon rebuilding a heater; you’re just swapping a part. It’s that simple. The catch (and how we handle it) Now, keeping something waterproof while making it easy to open is a tricky balance. It comes down to the gaskets. We use compression seals around where the module meets the frame. The only real “rule” here is that you have to make sure those seals are seated perfectly when you put the module back in. If you’re sloppy with the seal, you lose the waterproof protection. It’s a small trade-off for the speed of the repair, but it’s one that pays off. Built for the long haul Harsh environments are brutal. Between the freezing cold and the intense heat, the metal housing is constantly expanding and contracting. Over time, that makes traditional screws rattle loose. We used modular clips specifically designed to handle that constant shifting. By separating the heating element from the main frame, the outer shell doesn’t warp from the heat stress. The result? A housing that stays watertight and a heating element that’s a breeze to replace when it eventually wears out.
