If you’ve ever had one of those old-school bathroom heat lamps burn out right when you’re stepping out of a cold shower, you know the frustration. Most of those things are just fancy lightbulbs. They aren’t really built for steam. Water creeps into the socket, the filament pops, and suddenly you’re shivering in a cold room. That’s why we’ve moved toward high-waterproof infrared heaters. They actually belong in a wet bathroom. Instant warmth, no waiting Here is the thing about traditional heaters: they try to warm up the air. That takes forever. Infrared is different. It sends out waves of heat that hit you and the walls directly. You feel it the second you flip the switch. It’s like stepping into a patch of sunlight. We wrap the heating element in quartz glass, which keeps the oxygen away from the filament. This means the tube lasts way longer than a standard bulb. Keeping the water out Let’s be honest—steam is a nightmare for electronics. A regular lamp just isn’t cut out for it. The infrared units we use have IP-rated seals (usually IP44 or better). Basically, we use heavy-duty gaskets and housings that don’t rust to make sure water droplets never touch the electrical guts. It’s a huge relief. You don’t have to worry about ground faults or dangerous shorts when you’re standing in a shower zone. It just works, and it stays safe. A few tips on setup These units pack a lot of punch into a tiny space. You don’t need a giant, ugly fixture to get the room warm. But a word of caution: because the heat is so direct,placement is everything. If you mount them too low, it’ll feel like you’re standing under a heat lamp at a buffet—way too intense. You want them high enough that the warmth feels like a cozy blanket, not a blowtorch. We usually suggest dropping them right into the ceiling grid with some moisture-resistant cabling.
